Paul Bolger is an award winning writer, artist and filmmaker and from Ireland. He cut his animation teeth at Sullivan Bluth Studios in the late 80’s on The Land Before Time and All Dogs Go to Heaven. He went onto work as a lead animator on Richard Williams lost classic The Thief and the Cobbler and Ralph Bakshi’s Cool World before returning to Ireland in the 1990’s and opening Dagda Film, one of Ireland’s first indigenous animation studios. He has since worked on many feature films as a designer, animator, story artist and writer/director – namely Felidae, Pippi Longstocking, Help I’m A Fish, Carnivalé, Happily N’Ever After and most recently Pirates: Band of Misfits, Arthur Christmas and Shaun The Sheep The Movie. Hound 1: Protector, Paul’s graphic novel reimagining of the life and times of ancient Ireland’s most famous hero Cú Chulainn, was released to great acclaim in ireland in 2015. Hound 2: Defender is out now. Paul is also developing a slate of books and film projects and chief of which is the Hound live-action feature film which Paul co-wrote with Barry Devlin and is co-producing with Oscar winning Producer Hugh Welchman.
